India, Sept. 28 -- Mobile retailers across India are preparing to observe 'No UPI Day' on October 2, 2026, following a call by the All India Mobile Retailers Association (AIMRA). The symbolic protest is aimed at opposing the proposed 0.4% Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) on UPI transactions above Rs 2,000.

The new MDR framework is scheduled to take effect from October 15, 2026. Retailers have raised concerns that the additional cost could put further pressure on their profit margins, particularly for smaller businesses.
