India, Aug. 31 -- New photographs said to show former Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro were posted to his social media accounts on Sunday, offering one of the first fresh glimpses of the detained leader since his capture by US forces earlier this year.

The images, accompanied by a message addressed to Maduro's grandchildren, were dated 25 June, the day after a pair of devastating earthquakes struck Venezuela, though they only surfaced online months later. Maduro has been held in the US since January on drug trafficking-related charges.
