India, Oct. 21 -- The NFL suspended Buffalo Bills defensive back Sam Franklin Jr. for one game without pay on Wednesday for unsportsmanlike conduct.

League officials disciplined the veteran after video review proved he spat directly at a Las Vegas Raiders player during Sunday's road matchup.

The punishment marks Buffalo's second safety banned for spitting in the exact same game, plunging head coach Sean McDermott's defense into a cultural embarrassment.

Franklin will miss the high-stakes November 1 battle against the Baltimore Ravens.
