India, Sept. 21 -- The sky will put on one of its biggest astronomical shows of the decade in August 2027, when the Moon will completely cover the Sun along a narrow path stretching from southern Europe through North Africa and the Middle East. India will also get a view of the event, but observers there will see only a partial eclipse.

For Indian skywatchers, the August 2, 2027 solar eclipse will still be worth watching, particularly because the timing will allow several parts of the country to observe the Moon passing across the Sun. In New Delhi, the partial eclipse is expected to begin at about 3:53 pm IST, peak around 4:29 pm, and finish at approximately 5:02 pm. About 8.2% of the Sun's disc will be obscured at maximum.
