Nepal eases curbs in southern districts as peace rallies urge calm
India, Aug. 2 -- Authorities in several districts of Nepal's southern plains have partially lifted curfews and eased restrictions after nearly a week of unrest, while peace and harmony rallies were organised to promote communal unity.
The violence began in Sunsari district's Dewangunj and Kaptangunj areas and later spread to parts of the eastern Terai, prompting local administrations to impose curfews and prohibitory orders. Yesterday, officials lifted curfews in 10 local bodies of Sunsari district, parts of Janakpur in Dhanusha district, and Lahan in Siraha district.
