India, Aug. 21 -- The Nasdaq Composite opened higher on Friday, August 21, recovering after a sharp sell-off in the previous session as investors assessed the Federal Reserve's interest-rate outlook, rising Treasury yields, oil prices and broader geopolitical risks. The tech-heavy index was recently up 0.19% at 26,117, according to the market levels cited in the day's trading update.

The modest rebound comes after Wall Street suffered a broad sell-off on Thursday. Reuters reported that the Nasdaq fell 1% in the previous session, while the S&P 500 dropped 0.87% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 1.32%.
