India, July 26 -- After spending more than eight months aboard the International Space Station (ISS), NASA astronaut Chris Williams and Russian cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Sergei Mikaev safely returned to Earth on Sunday. The Soyuz MS-28 spacecraft landed in Kazakhstan after completing a 241-day mission that included scientific experiments, spacewalks, and more than 3,800 trips around Earth.

While the landing marked the successful end of the mission, experts say returning to Earth is often one of the most physically demanding phases of spaceflight because astronauts must readjust to gravity after months in weightlessness.
