India, April 7 -- TMZ says it has received a new ransom note from someone claiming to have critical information about the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of "Today" show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie. The sender, who has contacted the outlet repeatedly during the investigation, demanded payment in cryptocurrency in exchange for details about Guthrie's alleged abduction in late February.
The latest message is the first to reference a specific location, claiming Guthrie was seen in Sonora, Mexico, and the first in which the sender alleges she is now dead. The note also criticized the FBI for dismissing earlier messages as a scam. TMZ said it forwarded the email to federal investigators.
