India, June 22 -- Mumbai woke up to rain and cloudy skies on Monday as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for parts of the city. The weather department has warned of thunderstorms, lightning, moderate to heavy rainfall and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph in isolated areas. The alert was issued at 7 am and remained in effect until 10 am. With more showers expected over the next few days, the IMD has also forecast that the monsoon is likely to become fully active across Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and other parts of Maharashtra from June 25.
