The Lizzie Borden Story takes one of America's most infamous unsolved murder cases and retells it in a heavily fictionalised way. The fourth season of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan's anthology stars Ella Beatty as Lizzie Borden, the Massachusetts woman accused of killing her father, Andrew Borden, and stepmother, Abby Borden, with an axe in 1892.

The real Lizzie was acquitted in 1893 and never convicted of the murders. The series, meanwhile, builds an elaborate story around her relationship with housemaid Bridget "Maggie" Sullivan, actress Nance O'Neil, the murder of Bertha Manchester and even Aileen Wuo...
