India, Aug. 13 -- Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey signed a landmark mutual defence pact in the holy city of Mecca on 7 August, formally committing to treat an armed attack against any one of the three countries as an attack against all, as regional tensions over the ongoing Iran war continue to reshape Middle Eastern security alliances.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif signed the agreement, known as the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement, alongside their respective foreign and defence ministers.
