India, May 27 -- A major industrial accident rocked a Southwest Washington community when a large chemical tank imploded at the Nippon Dynawave Packaging Co. facility, resulting in multiple fatalities and leaving several others with critical injuries. The incident, which triggered a significant emergency response, has turned the industrial site into what officials described as a "mass casualty scene."

The rupture occurred at approximately 7:15 a.m. at the sprawling paper mill located at 3401 Industrial Way. According to local authorities, the tank, which was reportedly roughly 60% full at the time, contained "white liquor," a corrosive chemical mixture of sodium hydroxide and sodium sulfide used in the manufacturing of kraft pulp.
