India, Aug. 26 -- In 2018, just months before LeBron James joined the Los Angeles Lakers, his business interests crossed paths with future Lakers owner Mark Walter. As James prepared to expand his ventures away from basketball, he established a new LLC that required significant financing.
According to Bloomberg, the company linked to James borrowed $300 million from two life insurance firms associated with Guggenheim Partners, the investment firm led by Walter. At the time, James could not have known that Walter would go on to become the Lakers' controlling owner seven years later.
