India, Oct. 19 -- Korea Stock Market (KRX) Today (October 19): South Korea's stock market started Monday's trading session on a weak note as renewed concerns over artificial intelligence spending, foreign investor selling and semiconductor competition weighed on investor confidence. The benchmark KOSPI opened 3.17% lower at 5,488.41, while major chipmakers Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix faced fresh selling pressure.

The decline followed a turbulent week in which both companies recorded their steepest weekly share price losses since the 2008 global financial crisis. Investors are now watching AI-related earnings, US inflation and interest rate expectations to assess whether the market can recover from its recent losses.
