India, Aug. 19 -- A deadly fire broke out at a hotel on Free School Street near New Market in Kolkata early Wednesday, killing at least nine people, including a child. The blaze began at around 2 am, with several guests reportedly trapped inside the building as emergency teams launched a rescue operation.

Four fire engines were sent to the location after authorities received information about the incident. A disaster management team also joined the operation, while firefighters worked to evacuate people from the hotel and bring the flames under control.
