India, April 8 -- With the Kerala Assembly Election 2026 scheduled for April 9, 2026, the Kerala government has declared a public holiday across the state to facilitate voting. The decision affects several services including banks, government offices, schools, and many commercial establishments as citizens prepare to vote for 140 constituencies in the Kerala Legislative Assembly. 

The election-day holiday has been declared under provisions such as the Negotiable Instruments Act, which means most banking institutions will not operate regular in-person services on polling day.
