India, Aug. 12 -- The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts has been ordered by a Superior US Court judge to pay over $250,000 in legal fees to jazz musician Chuck Redd, marking a significant conclusion to a contentious legal battle.
The ruling follows the dismissal of a lawsuit the institution had initiated against the acclaimed jazz drummer and vibraphonist, who had withdrawn from a scheduled performance to protest the addition of US President Donald Trump's name to the arts institution, according to reports.
DC Superior Court Judge Tanya Jones Bosier mandated that the Kennedy Center pay $252,479.70 in attorneys' fees and costs, effectively covering nearly the entire sum requested by the musician's legal counsel.
