India, June 16 -- Karan Johar has officially said that he is making his debut into the Malayalam film industry with this rather ambitious new project called Odiyan: The Age of Illusion. The movie will be jointly produced by Dharma Productions and Prithviraj Productions, and honestly it feels like a proper, significant link between Hindi and Malayalam cinema, like a real bridge.

Directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Rahul Sadasivan, who is mostly remembered for horror and folklore, this film is set up inside that 19th-century Kerala world. It will dip into the legends connected to the Odiyan, those mythical shape-shifters from local folklore, said to have sinister but also strong abilities.
