India, Oct. 24 -- Flamengo midfielder Jorginho is facing scrutiny after reportedly returning an adverse result in an anti-doping test conducted under CONMEBOL procedures. A counter-analysis is said to be scheduled for October 27, and the outcome could determine whether the Italian international faces disciplinary action.

Brazilian journalist Thiago Asmar first reported the alleged positive result. If an anti-doping violation is established, Jorginho could face a suspension ranging from six months to two years, according to reports in Brazil.

The substance reportedly detected has not been identified publicly. The sample was also not collected after Flamengo's latest match against Estudiantes, according to Asmar.
