India, Aug. 31 -- John Galliano's planned Met Gala exhibition has been cancelled following weeks of backlash over the designer's controversial past. The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Galliano announced on August 31 that John Galliano: Horizons, which was scheduled to open in May 2027, will no longer proceed as planned. The exhibition was set to explore the British designer's four-decade career and would have been presented alongside the 2027 Met Gala.

Galliano confirmed the decision in a statement, saying he had reached it after "much reflection and discussion" with the Met and everyone involved.
