India, Oct. 12 -- J.J. McCarthy had an opportunity in the second half of the New York Giants' NFL Week 5 game against the Washington Commanders on Sunday, October 11, 2026. The Giants turned to the quarterback after a disappointing first-half offensive display, with Jameis Winston struggling to move the ball consistently as New York trailed 12-3 at halftime.

McCarthy, acquired from the Minnesota Vikings less than two weeks ago, had already made a brief appearance in the first quarter. His second-half opportunity could give the Giants a chance to spark their offence and change the momentum against their NFC East rivals.
