India, June 23 -- An intense typhoon called Typhoon Mekkhala has been brewing over the Philippine Sea for quite some time. Today, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) warned that it may be headed in the direction of Japan.
JMA's Statement
This morning, the main weather agency of Japan - Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), Typhoon Mekkhala is moving northward from the Philippine Sea with high intensity.
Its central pressure at the time of the statement was 925 hectopascals, with maximum sustained winds of 50 meters per second near the center and maximum instantaneous gusts of 70 meters per second.
