India, Oct. 17 -- The Philadelphia Eagles are not planning to place Jalen Hurts on injured reserve despite the quarterback being sidelined indefinitely with a superficial blood clot in his calf, according to NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo.

The decision keeps open the possibility of Hurts returning without committing him to a longer absence.

However, it does not mean the Eagles quarterback is close to being cleared to play.

Philadelphia has ruled Hurts out for Sunday's Week 6 matchup against the Carolina Panthers, with the team prioritising his health while determining the appropriate course of treatment.
