India, Aug. 15 -- Pokemon Go experienced a widespread outage on Friday, with more than 20,000 users reporting problems on Downdetector, as players across the country found themselves locked out of the popular augmented-reality mobile game.

More than 20,000 users had reported issues with the platform as of 3.27 pm PT, according to Downdetector, which tracks outages by collecting status reports from multiple sources, with most users reporting problems specifically with the game's launch. Downdetector's own tracking showed user reports surging around 6.15 pm ET, according to the outage-monitoring service's post on social media platform X, which asked players, "How is it affecting you?"
