India, June 8 -- India has strengthened its position in South Asia's nuclear balance, as it has widened the gap with Pakistan as both nations continue to expand and modernise their strategic arsenals. According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute's (SIPRI) Yearbook 2026, India reportedly possesses around 190 nuclear warheads, while the neighbouring country, Pakistan, has around 170. While the difference remains relatively modest, the latest figures indicate that New Delhi has continued to pull ahead in the region's long-running nuclear competition.
