India, March 26 -- Even as elections in Assam are just less than two weeks away, the Congress campaign has been hit by the desertions and is finding tough how to take on Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who has emerged as a major face of the BJP in the northeastern state.
The BJP had ended the Congress 15 year consecutive rule in Assam and has been in power since then.
The Congress, which was looking to wrest power from the BJP in the state, once again lost the steam ahead of polls as Bhupen Borah and Pradyut Bordoloi left the party ahead of the crucial polls.
