India, Feb. 26 -- Iran and the United States are set to begin a third round of nuclear negotiations in Switzerland, even as tensions increase due to fresh US sanctions and a growing American military presence in the Middle East. Despite the pressure, both sides have publicly maintained that they prefer a diplomatic solution.

At the same time, the Trump administration is reportedly wary of a prolonged conflict, believing that sustained fighting with Iran could severely strain US munitions stockpiles and potentially give China an opportunity to move against Taiwan, according to Politico.
