India, April 5 -- A major boost to India's maritime strength, the Indian Navy on Friday commissioned INS Taragiri, the fourth stealth frigate under the Project 17A programme, at Visakhapatnam in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
Designed by the Warship Design Bureau and built by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL), the 6,670-tonne warship marks a significant milestone in indigenous naval construction. With more than 75% indigenous content and contributions from over 200 MSMEs, INS Taragiri highlights India's growing self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
