India, Aug. 23 -- The India cricket team made a strong start to the second Test against Sri Lanka, reaching 300 for five at stumps on Day 1 in Colombo. Devdutt Padikkal once again delivered with the bat, producing his second successive Test century. Shubman Gill also made a composed half-century before falling late in the day. Sri Lanka created openings at regular intervals but struggled to sustain pressure. With conditions still favourable for batting, India finished the opening day firmly in control.
