India, Aug. 23 -- Shubman Gill-led India have made a strong start to their ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 campaign after winning the first Test. The visitors will now look to carry their momentum into Colombo and finish the series on a high.

Devdutt Padikkal and Manav Suthar were among India's biggest positives in Galle. Padikkal scored 167 and 44 to secure the Player of the Match award, while Suthar continued his impressive start to Test cricket with a 10-wicket match haul.

The second Test will also see Saransh Jain make his Test debut for India. The off-spinner was presented with his debut cap by Ravindra Jadeja, adding a new dimension to India's spin attack. Kuldeep Yadav misses out from the playing XI.
