India, Sept. 14 -- Pakistan is set to take part in next month's Men's Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament in Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann confirmed on Monday. The announcement means India and Pakistan could once again face each other on Indian soil at a major multi-nation sporting event, despite the two countries maintaining restrictions on bilateral sporting engagements. Mann said the participation is in line with the Union government's policy permitting the neighbouring rivals to compete in multinational tournaments.
