India, Aug. 8 -- When the tricolour rises over school grounds on August 15, students do more than take part in a national celebration. They get an opportunity to understand what freedom means, remember the people who fought for it and think about the kind of India they want to build. Independence Day 2026 will once again bring schools and communities together through flag-hoisting ceremonies, speeches, essay competitions and cultural programmes.
