India, Oct. 2 -- Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi will not attend the high-voltage India vs Pakistan men's cricket final at the 2026 Asian Games in Nisshin on Saturday.

The ACC confirmed on Friday that Naqvi, who also serves as the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman and Pakistan's Interior Minister, will skip Finals Day, citing prior commitments.

His decision brings relief to tournament organisers, neatly avoiding another potential podium controversy between Indian cricket authorities and the continental council chief.

Here is everything you need to know about Naqvi's absence, the backstory behind the decision, and how Saturday's medal ceremony will take place.
