India, Aug. 16 -- ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2027: The ICC is considering October 2, 2027, as the opening date for the 2027 ODI World Cup, potentially aligning the start of cricket's biggest 50-over tournament with Gandhi Jayanti. There is no official confirmation so far but the proposed date would give a strong historical weight to the occasion, especially as Mahatma Gandhi had spent two decades or more in South Africa. South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia will jointly host the tournament which is expected to feature 14 teams.
