India, July 13 -- After rewriting box office history worldwide, Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar franchise starring Ranveer Singh has finally made its way to Japan. But the film's opening has once again highlighted a reality that many Indian releases have faced over the years: success in Japan doesn't always arrive on day one.
Released in the country as Operation Dhurandhar on July 10 through local distributor Twin, the spy action thriller opened across theatres with a dedicated promotional campaign. Even Ranveer Singh recorded a special video inviting Japanese audiences to watch what he called the biggest Indian movie of all time. Despite the efforts, the film didn't get the start that many had expected.
