India, Aug. 11 -- The prestigious tournament will be held from August 15 to August 30 across Belgium and the Netherlands, with 16 teams competing for hockey's biggest prize. India have been placed in Pool D alongside England, Pakistan and Wales, and every result in the group stage could have a huge impact on their journey.

How Does the New Format Work?

Unlike previous editions, the 2026 Hockey World Cup will not feature quarter-finals. Instead, the tournament will follow a three-stage format.

16 teams are divided into four pools of four teams each.

The top two teams from each pool advance to the Intermediate Round.

The eight qualified teams form two new groups of four teams each.
