India, June 2 -- The Lebanese Embassy in Washington announced on Monday that Hezbollah has formally accepted a US-backed proposal for a "mutual cessation of attacks" with Israel. The agreement, intended to de-escalate months of intense military conflict, followed high-level communications between Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
According to the embassy's statement, the arrangement aims to immediately halt Israeli strikes on Beirut's southern suburbs in exchange for Hezbollah refraining from rocket and drone attacks against Israel.
