India, Nov. 1 -- Filmmaker Michael Mann, best known for directing films such as Heat, Collateral and Miami Vice, was injured after accidentally shooting himself in the leg at a gun range in Los Angeles. The 83-year-old director sustained a superficial injury in the incident, which took place at around 4 PM local time on Saturday, October 31. Mann was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and was reported to be in stable condition.

A representative for the filmmaker confirmed the incident, stating that the firearm discharged accidentally while it was still holstered.
