India, Aug. 23 -- Earlier this week, a fast moving broke out near Reno in Nevada. Now, the fire's rapid expansion has promoted state governor Joe Lombardo to declare a emergency in the Washoe County.

What Happened?

On August 22, 2026, a powerful blaze, which is called the Hawk Wildfire, erupted on a hillside in the Peavine Mountain/Verdi area north of Reno, Nevada, in Washoe County. The fire's growth was exceptionally rapid. By around 3 p.m. Saturday, it grew to 2500 acres. And now, the deadly blaze has burned through 10,500 acres, nearly 4 times more than four times the earlier estimate.
