India, Sept. 18 -- The highly anticipated launch of Grand Theft Auto VI has encountered a fresh wave of controversy following the announcement that the game's official soundtrack will receive a premium physical release, despite the game itself reportedly abandoning traditional discs.

Rockstar Games recently confirmed that "Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album" will be available on compact disc and vinyl, including a deluxe collectors' box set launching on 20 November.

However, the juxtaposition of offering physical media for the music while boxed copies of the blockbuster video game will merely contain digital download codes has frustrated consumer rights advocates and gaming purists.
