India, Aug. 31 -- Grand Canyon Flash Flood Live Today: The Grand Canyon's dramatic landscape turned dangerous within minutes after intense rainfall triggered a powerful flash flood in Arizona, sending torrents through Bright Angel Canyon and the Phantom Ranch area. The sudden flooding destroyed footbridges, pushed debris into the Colorado River and forced authorities to evacuate dozens of people as they worked to determine whether more than 20 individuals remained unaccounted for.

The National Park Service launched a public appeal on Sunday, August 30, asking anyone with information about hikers, backpackers or campers who were in the affected corridor on August 29 to contact investigators.
