India, July 29 -- Oscar-winning Irish singer-songwriter and actor Glen Hansard has died at the age of 56 following a motorcycle crash in Dublin. Hansard, best known for starring in Once and co-writing the Academy Award-winning song Falling Slowly, was involved in a single-vehicle accident in Lucan, on the outskirts of the Irish capital, in the early hours of Wednesday.

His family confirmed the heartbreaking news through his management, requesting privacy as authorities continue investigating the crash.
