India, June 13 -- Gene Shalit, the longtime movie critic in US whose trademark mustache and witty reviews made him a household name, has died at the age of 100. Best known for his decades-long association with NBC's Today show, Shalit spent much of his life shaping conversations around books, films, and popular culture.

Shalit, who is best known for his decades-long association with Today before retiring in 2010, "passed away peacefully today after 100 years of an amazing life," his family told NBC News
