India, Oct. 14 -- Gael Monfils will not compete at the Paris Masters, the tournament he had hoped would bring the curtain down on his professional tennis career. The 40-year-old Frenchman has been listed as retired by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA), with October 5, 2026, recorded as his retirement date. The development has raised questions about whether Monfils has played his final match at the US Open, where he lost to American youngster Learner Tien in the second round.

Monfils had planned to end his career in front of his home crowd in Paris, making his unexpected absence a disappointing prospect for fans hoping to give the charismatic tennis star one final farewell.
