India, Oct. 1 -- France School Protests Live Update: What began as students blocking school entrance over missing teachers, crowded classrooms, and ageing buildings has become a nationwide security challenge in France. On Thursday, October 1, fires broke out at schools in Marseille and Nantes; a fire truck was set alight in Marseille and teachers were accidentally splashed with petrol during an incident at Victor Hugo High School.

The escalation came as hundreds of schools remained affected and hundreds of people had been arrested during protests that have spread across the country.
