The French captain scored the only goal in the Round of 16 tie against Paraguay. His goal came from the penalty spot as France was awarded their first penalty in the tournament. With his seventh goal in the tournament, Mbappe became only the second player to score seven or more goals in multiple World Cups. Messi was the first one to achieve this feat less than 24 hours before the Real Madrid forward.
