India, May 24 -- Iran football team has been granted permission to move their base out of the United States after tense diplomatic relations ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026. The two nations have been on a war since February with US killing Iran Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in a series of attacks in West Asia. The decision on Saturday (May 23) allows Iran to reside in Mexico and only travel to the US on matchdays.

Iran moves out base

The Iranian team will be based in Tijuana on the border of Mexico and the United States, federation president Mehdi Taj said in a video carried by the Fars news agency.
