India, April 29 -- In a historic move to sanitise on-field conduct, FIFA and IFAB have officially ratified a series of disciplinary "super-rules" for the World Cup 2026, starting this June. The most polarising amendment allows referees to issue a straight red card to any player who covers their mouth with their hand or jersey during a confrontation with an opponent.
