India, Sept. 27 -- India's women's sabre team will begin its Asian Games 2026 campaign on Sunday, September 27, with a Round of 16 clash against Indonesia. The Indian team features experienced Olympian Bhavani Devi, along with Shreya Gupta, Jefarlin Jani Rexlin Simla and Shruti Joshi.

Bhavani and Shreya will return to action after competing in the individual sabre event earlier at the Games. Bhavani battled through a difficult pool stage, winning two bouts to reach the knockout rounds before beating Mongolia's Oulen Tugsjargal 15-8 in the Round of 32. She then lost 15-5 to China's Rao Xueyi in the last 16. Shreya also reached the Round of 16 before losing 15-6 to South Korea's Jeon Ha-young.
