India, Sept. 3 -- Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team driver and current championship leader Kimi Antonelli will start the Italian Grand Prix from the back of the grid following a confirmed power unit penalty on Thursday.
Ahead of the race at the historic Autodromo Nazionale Monza, the German team confirmed that the 20-year-old Italian driver will take on new engine components exceeding the limit set by the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile.
While starting from the rear presents a challenge at his home race, team principal Toto Wolff explained that the move was completely planned for tactical reasons.
